History

Protecting and nurturing the Japanese culture "Kelp".

Kelp is a part of Japanese food culture.

The spread of kelp, which was once very valuable, to the common people began in the Edo period, when Kitamae ships entered Osaka, known as the "kitchen of the world," and the city became a kelp hub.

In 1903, Konbu Doi was founded in Osaka, Japan.

Our mission is to protect Japanese food culture and pass on the real thing to the next generation, and we have done so with the single-minded determination to "make good things".

To be honest, the consumption and production of kelp is decreasing year by year.

With the advent of inexpensive granulated soup stock, global warming, and a shortage of successors to fishermen, kelp is facing a difficult time.

However, instead of giving up, we are making an effort to convey the original goodness of kelp to our customers by creating products that make use of the genuine goodness that cannot be produced by granulated soup stock.

We are also working to help the people of Hokkaido, the place of production, understand the value of kelp and foster successors.

Passing on the kelp culture to the next generation.

We believe that we can do this because we were founded in Osaka, where the kelp culture flourished.

Characteristic

Bringing real taste and safety to many children.

We use only traditional seasonings and no food additives in our products.

If we used chemical seasonings or yeast extracts, we would be able to offer our products at a much lower price than now.

But, we believe that the basics of food are "good taste and safety".

We want our children to eat good food with peace of mind, and we want them to know the real taste of food from an early age.

However, we do not think that we should only cater to a few wealthy people.

We want to share good and genuine products with as many people as possible.

In order to do so, we strive to provide products that are easy to use and affordable in accordance with the times, without lowering the quality of our current products.

For example, the "moist rice seasoning" is very popular because of its quantity and reasonable price.

The fact that some children start crying when they hear that we are sold out is the best proof of its deliciousness.

Please enjoy the taste of real kelp at home.

For Customers

We hope that knowing the true taste of soup stock will inspire you to try making your own.

We still encourage people to make soup stock at home, which used to be the norm.

Even so, the reality is that making soup stock can be a hassle, and we end up relying on granulated soup stock.

For this reason, we also offer products that are easy to use on a daily basis, such as "Authentic 10x Dashi" which can be used to make soup just by diluting it with hot water, and "Kelp Powder," which has no secondary ingredients at all.

First of all, I want people to know the real taste that cannot be found in chemical seasonings through easy-to-use products.

We also want people to try making soup stock using kelp from the supermarket.

Of course, it would be great if you could use our kelp to make soup stock on a daily basis, but we want to be the kind of company that makes you think, "Let's use kelp from Konbu Doi" when you have a special occasion and want a good soup stock.

We will continue to provide delicious, safe, easy-to-use, and real taste from the standpoint of you.
