Bringing the original fun and beauty of metal to everyday life
Tenmyo Metal Casting
The Masada family walks along with the history for more than 1000 years
It can be said that the Masada family has a history of walking with Tenmei castings.
Tenmei Casting needed an armor maker due to the turbulence of Taira no Masakado in 939, and from Kawachi no Kuni (currently Osaka) Hidesato Fujiwara It is said that casters (imoji) were gathered to run castings in Sano by the order of (descendants of).
One of the first five casters gathered has an ancestor of the Masada family who calls himself "Masada".
The heyday of Tenmei casting is said to be in the middle of the Edo period, with more than 70 workshops and more than 1000 craftsmen, making it a representative industry in Sano.
However, there are now only 4 workshops left.
I will continue to challenge new designs and techniques to convey the charm of castings in the future, while preserving the tradition of Tenmei castings that has been passed down from my ancestors to the present.
The charm of "silver" that has been pursued for over 30 years
We are particular about traditional "baking casting" which is the same manufacturing technique as national treasures such as the statue of Buddha born at Todaiji Temple.
Mold casting is a casting technique in which a mold is made, fired at 800 degrees or higher, and hot water is poured while the mold is still hot.
In recent years, the manufacturing process has become complicated.
It is a technique that is said to have only a few successors.
As a companion to Tenmei Casting, which has been handed down as continuous cotton, we strive every day to deliver the best work so that you can know the charm of casting as much as possible.
Oborogin We have been pursuing the silver color derived from the material Oborogin for over 30 years.
Really wonderful castings are said to be "heavy to look at and light to hold".
Oborogin has a solid and profound feeling, unlike simply glittering silver, and its expression differs depending on the viewing angle.
With a ratio of 3 copper to 1 silver, it is possible to express this profound silver color, but it took a daunting amount of time to produce the color and texture that I pursued.
I can only do a work that I am satisfied with once every few years, but Oborogin has a charm that I want to explore for a lifetime.
For several years, I have been searching for something that can be used daily, such as plates and sake sets made of tin, in order to let more people know the charm of Tenmei casting.
Tin sake sets are said to have a mysterious power that changes the taste of drinks just by pouring them.
In addition, it has a better sterilizing effect than other metals, and it does not break even if dropped, making it a material that is loved as an eco-friendly tableware.
Each plate and sake set is hand-applied, so no one is the same.
I hope you can feel the warmth created by people even though it is made of metal.
Bringing the joy of being genuine to everyday life
Daily necessities such as kitchen knives, iron kettles, and lacquer ware, which have been used for a long time in Japan, are being re-evaluated all over the world.
On the contrary, what the Japanese do not agree with has not been evaluated in the world.
But now, in Japan, disposable daily necessities are overflowing, and I feel that the joy and splendor of having the real thing is diminishing.
Metal vessels have been used for many years and can be wiped with a cloth to change their color.
The color change enhances the charm of the dish and gives it a deeper accent when you look at it.
And it's more than just a plate on which you can put food.
I hope that you will enjoy the properties of metals by incorporating those made of metals into your life.
