在創業後超過130年以上的時光中，我們一直全心全意製作和・京蠟燭至今。

雖然和・京蠟燭自古以來多用於法事等場合，但近年因低價西式蠟燭的普及與仿蠟燭燈的出現，造成現在和・京蠟燭的需求量逐漸下降。

再加上作為和・京蠟燭原料的木蠟樹（櫨樹）果實產量減少等因素，對我們來說和・京蠟燭一直處於相當嚴峻的情況中。為了讓下一個世代能與和・京蠟燭產生共鳴，中村蠟燭積極地投身於各式各樣的活動中，如參加木蠟樹（櫨樹）的栽種計劃、試圖增加果實產量、研發帶有香味的時尚和・京蠟燭等。

特色

將傳統技藝灌注於一支支手工製作的蠟燭中

和・京蠟燭與西式蠟燭最大的差別便在於原料。與使用石油提煉原料製成的西式蠟燭不同，和・京蠟燭使用的皆為植物性原料。

因此和・京蠟燭的油煙較少，可說是對環境友善的蠟燭。與西式蠟燭不同，以較少的油煙、大而美麗的火焰為特色的和蠟燭，是以「葡萄櫨樹」為原料製成。事實上現在仍有栽種葡萄櫨的農家，只剩下位於和歌山縣的一家而已。

而由於無法有能穩定供應的產量，因此也開始在京都市內進行種植。

木蠟樹（櫨樹）本體從栽種到能自行結果為止需耗時3～4年，再加上有被鹿等動物食用的風險，因此雖然目前的情況是一邊從其他縣市調配果實，一邊接受和歌山縣農家的裁培指導，但目標是希望有朝一日能達到在地生產在地消費的結果。

此外，和蠟燭的另一大特色便是其獨特的燃燒方式。由於蠟燭中的中空燭芯可以促進空氣對流，大大的火焰緩緩搖曳，營造出神秘又充滿獨特風情的氛圍。

另外，火焰在沒有風吹動的地方也會輕輕搖曳，也不會因為小小的風吹過就熄滅。中村蠟燭的魅力之一還有手工製作這一點，每一支蠟燭中皆灌注了眾多專業師傅的傳統技藝。
