【NEW ARRIVAL】KARAGEN|KARAKAMI(JAPANESE PAPER)

Karagen is a long-established maker of "Karakami", founded during the Kan'ei era of the Edo period (1624–1645), with a history spanning nearly 400 years.

Karakami is a decorative paper tradition introduced to Japan from Tang China during the Heian period. Originally used as fine paper for writing waka poetry and other literary works, it is now widely used for interior decoration, particularly on sliding doors (fusuma).

Karagen now offers a collection of "Torinoko paper" and "handmade washi".

With their natural texture and soft feel—qualities that cannot be replicated by machines—these papers offer the unique beauty of traditional craftsmanship. Supplied as materials rather than finished products, they can be used not only for interior decoration, but also for calligraphy, artwork, craft projects, and countless other creative applications.
