【NEW ARRIVAL】INNOVATIVE CRAFTWORKS|KYO HYOGU (ART MOUNTINGS)

Innovative Craftworks is a 97-year-old Kyoto-based company that develops, manufactures, and sells Kyoto-style tableware products.

"Hyogu" is a traditional technique for beautifully and sturdily reinforcing books and paintings that has been used since the Nara period (710-794), and is a method of preserving paper developed in humid Japan.

In Kyoto, where there were many temples and shrines, a unique technique called "Kyo-Hyogu" was developed to preserve and appreciate religious objects such as sutras, calligraphy, and paintings.

In order to connect this traditional craft to the future, we have created "Settouka," a frameless lighting fusion of origami and Hyogu, through a process of trial and error.

The light, lightweight, and strong karakami paper is folded by hand, one by one, by craftsmen, and the traditional patterns float or cast shadows, inviting the viewer into a fantasy world.

We hope that everyone around the world will take a look at these new lampshades, which are neither Japanese nor Western.
