"Tatamiya Tatsuzo Sugimoto was founded in Kyoto in 1927.
For almost 100 years and four generations, we have been developing,manufacturing, and selling tatami products.
We have created Tatami coasters in cooperation with the producers of Kakegawa-ori, a traditional weaving technique handed down in Kakegawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture.
The resulting tatami coasters are now sold in Miyazu City, our hometown, as well as overseas.
The coasters and luncheon mats we produce are woven from brightly coloured natural rush and are characterized by their individuality and harmony with the living space.
Tatami has long been used in Japanese living spaces and is taken for granted in Japan, so its charm is often overlooked.
We hope that our customers can rediscover the charm of tatami through the products we offer.
