【NEW ARRIVAL】INDEN-YA YUSHICHI UEHARA|KOUSHU INDEN

Inden-ya Uehara Yushichi is a brand of Koshu Inden, which was founded in 1582 in Kofu.

Koshu Inden is a craft that combines deerskin, a blessing of nature, lacquer, and a pattern as an expression. It originally started when Yushichi of the Uehara family, an armorer under the Uehara Castle in Suwa, invented a unique technique of applying lacquer to deerskin.

For more than 400 years since then, the technique has been passed down from one generation to the next as a secret method. Today, while preserving the tradition, the technique is widely disclosed and has evolved with the times.

Deerskin has been used by the Japanese since ancient times for its softness and lightness, and lacquer, whose color and luster become brighter and more profound with time. We hope that you will experience the harmony created by these two natural materials and the unique texture that grows as you use it more and more.
