Karagen is a karakami shop in Saitama Prefecture that has been in business for about 400 years.
Karakami is a type of paper introduced from Tang China during the Heian period (794-1185), and was initially used to write down waka poems. Later, it began to be used for sliding doors, but in recent years, demand has decreased and the number of craftsmen has also been declining.
Therefore, we produced small things to let people know more about the quality of karakami. The size may be small, but the technique is equally packed.
This time, we have added warm karakami fans, each of which is handmade one by one.
A perfect accompaniment to the hot summer. They also make great gifts.
