Matsukan was founded in Obama, Fukui Prefecture, in 1922.

Obama boasts over 400 years of history as one of the leading manufacturing regions of Wakasa-nuri lacquerware chopsticks, which are said to account for over 80% of current lacquerware chopstick production in Japan.

Since its founding, Matsukan has sought to protect traditional chopstick-making techniques while challenging itself to innovate and match the character of the times.

New additions include chopsticks in soft colors that depict the nature of Obama City and a lovely flower-patterned gift set.

We have also enhanced the gift wrapping to make it even more suitable for gift-giving.
