【NEW ARRIVAL】INDEN-YA YUSHICHI UEHARA|KOUSHU INDEN

Koshu Inden is a craft that integrates and fuses deerhide and lacquer, which are raw materials from nature's blessings, with patterns as a form of expression.

Hand-carved stencils are placed on dyed deerhide, and lacquer is rubbed into them to apply the patterns.
The word for lacquer, "Urushi," is said to originate from words meaning "moist/vibrant" (uruou) and "beautiful" (uruwashii). Its characteristic is that the more time passes, the more its luster increases, and its color and texture deepen.

Yushichi Uehara, the distant ancestor, was the first to introduce this lacquer into Inden filmmaking.
Lacquer application requires master skills and intuition, so much so that it is said to take more than three years to master, but it is a traditional technique that is still passed down continuously today.

This time, we have prepared a wide range of items, from things that have long been essential, such as wallets and handbags, to things that have become indispensable in modern times, such as smartphone pocarettes. We would be delighted if you could incorporate Inden into your daily life.
