Saikai Toki began peddling pottery with a handcart in 1946, soon after World War II.
The Kodama family, who founded the company, originally ran a kiln in Hasami town, Nagasaki Prefecture, but turned into a merchant after the war.
Our goal was to enable everyone to use traditional crafts in their daily lives and enrich their lives.
Since Hasami Town is adjacent to Arita Town in Saga Prefecture, it walked as a production center of Arita-ware until around 1990.
However, around 2000, the company was forced to tighten the labeling of the place of production, and decided to launch a new brand as "Hasami-ware".
Saikai Toki was the driving force behind this trend and continues to produce tableware that fits in with people's lives.
