History

It all started with a single wheeled cart

Saikai Toki began with a single wheeled cart.

The Kodama family was originally active as Hasami Wares potters in Hasami Town, Nagasaki Prefecture.

Then, in 1946, the previous chairman, Kaoru Kodama, started peddling with a wheeled cart.

Eleven years later, in 1957, he established Saikai Toki Co., Ltd.

to deal with Hasami Wares and other ceramics.

The company took its name from the Saikai Bridge that was built in the neighborhood when it was first launched.

Today, our activities are not limited to Japan, but have expanded to Singapore, the U.S., China, and Europe, bringing the charm of Hasami Wares to countries around the world.

We are also involved in activities rooted in Hasami, such as activities to keep the tradition of Hasami Wares alive and to promote tourism in Hasami Town.
