Takeko Kaizawa
Emusiatsu is the Ainu word for "a sash that holds a sword over the shoulder.
It was used by Ainu men to wear swords as ceremonial dress.
It is made of linden bark for the warp and cotton thread for the weft, woven with traditional patterns, and the square part that holds the sword is made of embroidered cotton.
Kaizawa has been mastering various traditional techniques since he was a child and is currently designated as an "Ainu Association Outstanding Craftsman" and "Ainu Cultural Foundation Traditional Craftsman".
He puts a lot of time and effort into his creations, starting with the gathering of raw materials. This piece shows off that effort and will add a touch of flair to any interior.
