History
To pass on traditional roof tiles to future generations
Ishiyasu is a Sanshu tile kiln in Takahama, Aichi Prefecture.
Since its establishment in the Taisho era (1926), the company has been making roof tiles for famous architectural and cultural assets.
Tile culture in Japan began around 588.
It is believed to have been introduced to Japan from the Korean peninsula with the arrival of Buddhism.
As Buddhism spread, the number of temples increased, which in turn increased the demand for roof tiles.
The roof tile industry began to flourish in Japan.
In particular, Takahama City in Aichi Prefecture, where Ishiyasu is located, was blessed with soil suitable for tile production and developed into one of the three major tile-producing regions.
We continue to take on new challenges, not only in traditional roof tile production, but also by engaging with different industries to expand the possibilities of roof tiles.
Characteristic
Ishiyasu's mission is to expand the possibilities of tile culture
Ishiyasu roof tiles are characterised by the precision and beauty of their finish.
Thanks to our experience and unique technology, which we have developed over many years, we have mainly undertaken custom-made products that other companies could not handle.
Our particular focus is on Ibushi-style roof tiles.
Ibushi tiles are used in many Japanese houses, are highly durable and are an essential part of the Japanese landscape.
We believe it is our mission to create the unique Japanese colours found in Ibushi tiles and to pass on their beauty to future generations.
This is why we have planned a bottle keeper made from Ibushi-style roof tiles.
The tiles' characteristic heat of vaporisation is used to keep the bottles cool without the use of water or ice.
The tiles also absorb condensation on the bottle, so there is no need to worry about the desk getting wet and dirty.
In addition to its high functionality as a bottle keeper, this item also brings the unique color and beauty of the Ibushi-style roof tiles closer to you.
For Customers
New uses for traditional roof tiles
Ibushi tiles are used in many famous Japanese architectural and cultural assets.
They have a color that is uniquely Japanese and give a sense of the old-fashioned charm and beauty of the past.
Bottle Keeper Yukyu has created to make these Ibushi-style roof tiles more accessible.
The bottle keeper utilises the properties of the roof tiles, such as the use of vaporisation heat to retain cold and absorb condensation.
It can be used in a variety of situations, whether at the dining table or at an outdoor barbecue.
Tiles have a Japanese feel to them, but they are also chic enough to hold wine as well as sake.
As they are all handmade by craftsmen, no two are the same.
It will become your one and only special item.
We invite you to pick up a piece of traditional tile culture and feel it for yourself.
