History
A Kyo Yuzen Master, a Wholesaler, and a Mountain Guide
NOGIGUCHI KIHEI is a brand that produces scarves and stoles using natural wool, cotton, linen, etc., utilizing the Kyo yuzen dyeing technique.
Originally, the family business started as a kimono wholesaler, and we have been involved in the production and wholesale of Kyo yuzen kimono since 1984.
Kyoto is blessed with good water, and its vivid dyeing colors have led to the development of dyeing techniques such as Kyo yuzen.
The thorough division of labor has brought together talented craftsmen to produce elegant kimonos.
As a Kyo Yuzen craftsman myself, I aim to create better products that match the coming age while preserving traditional techniques.
In addition to being a dyeing artisan, my life's work is mountain guiding.
Influenced by my father's love of the outdoors, I grew up going to the mountains of Kyoto and running around in the valleys, and spent my 20s and 30s climbing mountains all over Japan.
I think I was ahead of my time in terms of doing what I love for a living.
Characteristic
Ideas from a mountain expert
A mountain guide is a mountain expert who knows not only the trails, but also the rocky ridges, valleys, and various other routes.
Since their lives are at risk, they need to have knowledge of how to deal with nature and the functions of the body.
The Kyo Yuzen scarf is made of 100% natural wool and was born out of such a situation.
Natural wool is a very light material, as 65% of its weight is air.
In mountainous areas, weight is the difference between life and death, making it the perfect material.
Natural wool also has the ability to shut out the heat and cold of the outside air and circulate body heat.
In cold winters, it holds in air warmed by body heat, and in hot summers, it evaporates moisture accumulated in its fibers, thereby lowering body temperature and keeping it cool.
The main feature of our Kyo yuzen scarves is that they are made of high quality wool fabric spun in Yamagata and Shizuoka prefectures in Japan and dyed one by one afterwards using the Kyo-Yuzen technique.
In addition to its functionality, the vivid colors and traditional Japanese patterns of this item will make your heart flutter with joy.
In addition to wool, we also have scarves made of cotton and linen, which are highly absorbent and quick-drying, so you can enjoy them throughout the four seasons.
For Customers
Items that combine traditional beauty and functionality
Our designs, which express the gorgeous and beautiful world of Kyo yuzen through our dyeing techniques, have been extremely well received by many customers.
In addition to the vivid colors and patterns, natural wool can be expected to regulate body temperature, as well as be waterproof, antibacterial, and deodorizing.
Some rain and snow can be repelled and turned into water droplets, which can be brushed off by hand.
It is also a very versatile material that cuts down bacteria and bad odors through the immunity of the sheep, which it originally possesses.
This item is useful not only for mountain climbing, but also for use around town to keep you comfortable on extremely cold or extremely hot days.
Cotton and linen are ideal for hot summer days because they are highly absorbent, quick-drying, non-sticky, and free of unpleasant odors.
We hope that you will pick up this excellent product and feel that it will give you a bright impression just by wrapping it around your neck.
