History
Inheriting Otani ware from the Edo period and passing it on to the Reiwa period.
Otani ware is said to have originated in the Edo period, when a pottery craftsman from Kyushu moved to village of Otani to show off his pottery.
In 1781, the feudal lord of the Awa domain built a kiln, and dyed porcelain was fired for the first time in Otani.
After that, six generations of Nouda Kiln and four generations of Motoyama Kiln took over, and I am now the tenth generation.
This is the only kiln in Otani-yaki where a climbing kiln from the end of the Edo period (designated as a national tangible cultural property) still exists.
It has been recognized by chefs of various genres all over Japan, and I produce their original tableware.
In addition, in order to convey the appeal and potential of Otani Ware to the younger generation, in recent years I have been working on new projects in collaboration with various companies, such as animations, sightseeing trains, and luxury cruise ships.
I strive every day to make the most of tradition, but without adhering to it, and to bring out the novel sensations of the encounter between clay and sacred fire.
Characteristic
Colors pursued with great care
Turkish blue is characterized by sparkling crystals everywhere, and lapis lazuli is a gem-like color reminiscent of the mysterious night sky.
The "colors" created by the glazes that OTANIYAKI tamura 1784 has researched over the years are vivid, yet mysterious enough to suit any table.
The design is simple, while incorporating traditional techniques to bring out the charm of the colors.
It is easy to match with anything, both Japanese and Western, so it can be used not only for special occasions, but also for simple everyday dishes.
The combination of carefully pursued colors and ease of use is sure to make these items your favorites.
For Customers
I want you to feel more familiar with it because of its high quality.
Japanese pottery is only used to serve Japanese food.
Many of you may have this image in your mind.
I would like to change that image.
For example, I have collaborated with many professional chefs, such as Italian chefs and chocolatiers, as well as Japanese chefs.
I also want you to know that it's something you can enjoy more easily, without feeling self-conscious.
That's why I am also working on collaborations with anime such as “ Fate/stay night ” and “ The Idol master Cinderella Girls ”.
The tableware made by OTANIYAKI tamura 1784 is of reliable quality that is recognized by chefs of various genres.
It is also a magical tableware that makes any table casually stylish, whether for special occasions or for daily use.
Color your table with such magical tableware.
