Supreme brilliance and beauty. Dignity, RINZEN KIRIKO
Captivated by the Beauty of Edo Kiriko
Founded less than a year ago, we at "Tokyo Glass Studio rinzen" produce glassware under the theme that “there is no history here, only quality.”
Before establishing rinzen in January 2021, we received training at a major kiriko manufacturer, after being captivated by the beauty of kiriko.
In Japanese, kiriko refers to cut glass.
The best known varieties of kiriko are Edo kiriko (Tokyo) and Satsuma kiriko (Kagoshima).
However, in the past, there used to be kiriko from many parts of Japan.
The typical patterns of kiriko include kiku-tsunagi (chrysanthemum mesh), hakkaku kagome (octagonal basket weave), asa-no-ha (hemp leaves), yarai (layered bamboo fence), shippo (the seven treasures), ichimatsu (checkerboard), and various other traditional patterns.
Kiriko with these delicate cuts have a high artistic quality and are loved by many people even today.
At Tokyo Glass Studio rinzen, our goal is to create a unique brand called "rinzen Kiriko" that is based on the theme of blending classic (traditional patterns) and modern.
The Unique Beauty of Glass Where Polishing is Key
When it comes to kiriko, people tend to focus only on the cutting technique, but there is actually another important process that determines the beauty of kiriko.
That is, the polishing.
In fact, glass does not shine merely by being cut.
It is the polishing process that gives glass its shine.
There are two methods of polishing: acid polishing and hand polishing.
At our company, we take great care in hand polishing all of our products.
With acid polishing, a large number of products can be processed at once, which makes it a method suited for mass production.
However, due to the chemicals used, acid polishing may melt away the cut edges of a product and cause it to lose its beauty.
In order to maximize the brilliance of the glass and pursue the best possible shine, we polish each of our products by hand, despite it taking time and effort.
This is our commitment to rinzen Kiriko.
Bringing Kiriko Closer and Delivering the Finest Sparkle to a Variety of People
The quality of kiriko varies widely, and each workshop has its own production method and quality requirements that are unique and distinct.
We at rinzen will continue to create our own brand, while aiming to deliver unique designs that combine precise and bold cuts, and a finish that is more beautiful than any other, by using our secret hand polishing technique.
rinzen Kiriko gives glass the finest sparkle.
These days, as we spend more time at home, we pay more attention to our fondness for the items we use around us.
We hope you will use our products as gifts for your loved ones, congratulatory items for special occasions, or rewards for yourself.
