It all started with a single wheeled cart
Saikai Toki began with a single wheeled cart.
The Kodama family was originally active as Hasami Wares potters in Hasami Town, Nagasaki Prefecture.
Then, in 1946, the previous chairman, Kaoru Kodama, started peddling with a wheeled cart.
Eleven years later, in 1957, he established Saikai Toki Co., Ltd.
to deal with Hasami Wares and other ceramics.
The company took its name from the Saikai Bridge that was built in the neighborhood when it was first launched.
Today, our activities are not limited to Japan, but have expanded to Singapore, the U.S., China, and Europe, bringing the charm of Hasami Wares to countries around the world.
We are also involved in activities rooted in Hasami, such as activities to keep the tradition of Hasami Wares alive and to promote tourism in Hasami Town.
Hasami Wares that has transcended the seas
Hasami Wares has been used as a tableware for the common people since ancient times.
Although it has a history of about 400 years, it has continued to change and improve with the times and has accompanied the lifestyles of the people of that era.
As a result, Hasami Wares became more popular among the public as the town of Hasami, Nagasaki Prefecture, became famous as a production center for everyday tableware.
Hasami Wares is characterized by its familiarity and ease of use, perfect for everyday use.
In addition to pottery with a rustic atmosphere unique to traditional crafts, modern designs that are easy to fit in with people today are also on the rise.
Saikai Toki also collaborates with various artists and designers in Japan and abroad.
This is a traditional craft that is not bound by conventional frameworks and continues to evolve on a daily basis.
Colorful living with extraordinary tableware
Our corporate mission is "to enrich people's lives by building bridges between people and things.
" With this in mind, we continue to produce easy-to-use tableware that fits in well with daily life.
Traditional crafts give the impression of being difficult to handle, but this is not the case with Hasami Wares.
Hasami Wares is attractive because it is durable and easy to use in daily life, as it was produced for the masses in the olden days.
The designs range from the austere Japanese style of the past to unique and stylish ones, making it a tableware that can be recommended to everyone.
