History
Supporting Made-in-Japan Products
Takeda Senzo Shoten is an original brand of Takeda Corporation, which was founded in Kyoto in 1893.
Our founder, Senzo Takeda, started the business by selling dyes, pigments, and paints, and later became a materials wholesaler handling chemicals and materials used by craftsmen in factories and workshops.
For generations, we have supported traditional techniques and Japanese craftsmanship passed down from generation to generation in Kyoto from the aspect of material procurement.
However, as the number of traditional craftspeople gradually declined and the demand for materials also decreased, we began to feel a sense of crisis that the light of Japanese craftsmanship would go out if things continued to progress as they were.
So, returning to our roots, we decided to use the brand name "Takeda Senzo Store," which was the name of the original store when it was founded, and set out to develop products that would fit into the modern lifestyle.
The brand was launched under the concept of "delivering items that enrich and make daily life more enjoyable, 365 days a year.
” We create unique products that will be passed on to the next generation.
Characteristic
A will to reduce "mottainai" (wastefulness)
When we think about "items that enrich our daily lives," one of the themes we cannot ignore nowadays is environmental issues.
Amid the calls for manufacturing products that are friendly to both people and the environment, we wanted to create products that can be used with peace of mind and that naturally become a part of eco-friendly activities.
Furthermore, because we are a Kyoto brand, we also want to value the Kyoto spirit of "shimatsu no kokoro" (spirit of frugality) that has been passed down from generation to generation.
In Kyoto, there is a culture of taking good care of things and using them up properly until the end, and we have practiced reducing "mottainai" (wastefulness) in our daily lives, even if only a little.
It was in this context that we focused on plastic wrap for food preservation.
Although it is now used daily without much thought, plastic wrap is single-use and made from raw materials that have a high environmental impact.
We looked for a way to make it more environmentally and human-friendly, and discovered Mitsuro Wrap, which originated in Australia.
Beeswax is an ingredient secreted from the abdomen of honeybees when they build a hive.
Because the wrap is made by applying natural beeswax to cloth, it is safe even if it gets into the mouth and has excellent moisturizing and antibacterial properties.
It is an eco-friendly item that can be washed and used over and over again, and can be maintained by adding more beeswax when its effectiveness wears off.
For Customers
Have fun and be eco-concious!
Beeswax is secreted by the worker bees that are in charge of building a hive.
It is food-safe and not only used in cosmetics such as lip balm and lipstick to make the lips soft and shiny, but also eaten as-is when a beehive is cut into piece or when it is applied to the surface of caneles, a French pastry.
The wrap you make yourself by applying beeswax to a cloth with a quintessential Kyoto design will be an item you will become attached to.
Because of its natural moisture retention and breathability, it is effective for preserving used vegetables and fruits.
It can also be used as a substitute for a lunch box by wrapping rice balls or sandwiches.
Excess beeswax can be used for maintenance or applied to your cloths.
Be eco-friendly with beeswax wrap, which can be cut into just the right size, washed, and used repeatedly.
