Mitsuro Wrap is made by applying wax from honeybee hives to cloth and soaking it in the wax. Unlike disposable plastic wrap, this wrap can be used repeatedly and is environmentally friendly. In recent years, honeydew wrap has been attracting attention as an item that can reduce the use of plastic and reduce waste as an effort to address environmental issues.
The advantage of using Mitsuro Wrap is that the patterns and colors are just so stylish and cute. It makes you feel good every time you use it. It can be used in a variety of ways, and each family can enjoy using it in their own way.
Mitsuro Wrap Characteristic 2
Uses honey wax, a safe material
Honeydew is a wax secreted by honeybees from their abdomens when they build their hives. Honeydew protects the hive and has antibacterial properties. For this reason, vegetables and other items wrapped in beeswax wrap are said to last longer than regular plastic wrap.
Because it is a natural material, it is also used for cosmetics and coating of sweets. Since the material is originally safe to put in the mouth, it can be used at home with peace of mind. It is also water-resistant and water-repellent when wet. If it gets dirty, a quick rinse is all that is needed to clean it, so it can be used in daily life without hassle.
This beeswax wrap kit contains bead-like grains of beeswax. It is a good size grain and very easy to handle.
Mitsuro Wrap Characteristic 3
You can use it this way!
So how can honeydew wrap actually be used? Basically, it can be used in the same way as regular plastic wrap for foods other than warm, acidic, and protein-rich meat and fish.
"・For refrigerated storage of cut vegetables and fruits that are about to be used.
・Wrap bread, sandwiches, or cold rice balls and use as a lunch box.
・Use as a lunch box for cold storage of food by covering it with a storage container or plate. "
Besides storing food and dishes in the refrigerator, it is also a convenient substitute for a lunch box when you are out and about. Since it is not as bulky as a lunch box, it is easy to carry around in a commuter or school bag.

How to make
After all, the charm of the honeydew wrap kit is that you can enjoy making it by yourself. I actually tried to make a honeydew wrap using the kit. The procedure is as follows. You can easily complete a stylish honey wax wrap.
1. Prepare iron, ironing board, newspaper, and cookie sheet
Prepare what you will need in addition to the Mitsuro Wrap Kit. Newspaper and cookie sheets are essential to keep the ironing board and iron clean.
2. Place newspaper, cookie sheet, and cloth on the ironing board in this order
At this time, newspaper or cookie sheets should be wider than the cloth to prevent beeswax from overflowing.
Scatter the beeswax evenly on the cloth.
The cloth in the honeydew wrap kit is 30cm square. The standard amount of honeydew to use is 25g. The kit contains 50g of beeswax, so you can keep it for a follow-up beeswax wrap, or make a beeswax wrap with other fabrics of your choice.
4. Place another layer of cookie sheet and iron over the top.
Apply an iron set at a low temperature (80°C to 120°C) by pressing down from above. Be careful not to burn yourself!
5. Proceed while checking for any remaining melt.
As the honeydew melts, it soaks into the cloth and darkens the color as if it were wet. When the entire surface is completely melted, it is OK.
6. Remove the cookie sheet and voila!
Remove the cookie sheet and check for areas where there is not enough beeswax. If there are any areas lacking, place the beeswax there, lay the cookie sheet down, and iron again. To avoid burns when removing the cookie sheet, let it cool down a little before removing the cookie sheet.

How to care for your honeydew wrap
You may have the impression that honeydew wraps are time-consuming to care for, but actually they are not. After use, simply wash it gently with water or lukewarm water. If you are concerned about food or other stains, you can wash it with diluted kitchen detergent. Since it repels water well, it dries quickly.
When storing it, dry it well and then fold it in two or wrap it up. The length of time it can be used as plastic wrap depends on the frequency of use, but generally speaking, it is said to last from six months to one year.
If wrinkles become noticeable, you can apply beeswax again for maintenance and clean up.

There are some cautions on how to use it! Check before you go!
Even though beeswax wrap seems to have many advantages, there are some points to be noted in its use. Since wax is sensitive to high temperatures, the following uses are not allowed.
・Washing with hot water
・Heating food in the microwave
・Wrapping warm lunches, etc
In addition, raw meat and fish, which are prone to bacteria growth, should not be wrapped directly. Use of oily foods and highly acidic foods such as citrus fruits should also be avoided. Storing food in the freezer should also be avoided, as it is said to accelerate the deterioration of beeswax.
