A pair of auspicious octagonal ochoko sake cup
This ochoko from the "Ki no Sachi" series is made of Miyako Somagi, a high-quality wood produced in Kyoto.
Since ancient times, the number "8" has been considered auspicious in Japan, and the octagonal shape is favored by many people as it attracts good luck from all directions.
The natural grain of the wood is beautiful and the twisted design is an innovation.
Wood has a low thermal conductivity, so it can be held firmly even when pouring hot sake.
The part of the cup that touches the mouth is thinly finished, making the sake taste even better.
