Satsuma faceted glass, said to be a phantom of faceted glass
Satsuma faceting was produced in the Satsuma Domain (present-day Kagoshima Prefecture) at the end of the Edo period and was called "phantom faceting" because it was produced for only about 20 years. The technique of Satsuma faceting once ceased to exist, but it was restored about 100 years later, and the technique has been handed down to the present as a traditional craft.
Glass is one of the easiest items of tableware to incorporate into daily life. We recommend that you welcome a glass made by traditional handcrafts as a special tableware.

So beautiful that you can't help but admire it! Black faceted glass produced by outstanding technique
Satsuma faceted glass is made by covering the surface of transparent crystal glass with colored glass at least 1 mm thick, cutting it deeply, and polishing it. The "blurring" and delicate patterns created by this process are the most distinctive features of Satsuma faceted glass.
This wine glass uses a chic black color. Satsuma Bidoro Kogei, the company that produces these glasses, succeeded in producing black color for the first time in the industry in 2006. Cutting black glass, which does not allow light to penetrate, is an advanced technique that requires many years of experience and intuition. It also takes two to three times longer than usual to produce this elaborate product.
The delicate cutting of the glass bowl is beautiful to behold, and the gently curved stem is elegant. The black color on the foot also tightens the overall look, giving it a very modern impression.

Any coordination is in high style!
While being a traditional craft with delicate techniques, this glass also has a modern impression, and its great appeal is that it can be easily matched with today's fashionable table deco
Although these glasses are very expensive, you will want to match them with your everyday meals without any fuss. Of course, it is also good to use it during evening drinks when you want to enjoy wine slowly, or during precious time spent with your loved ones. We also recommend using it when entertaining guests.
Even if you just display it on a cupboard, it will make its presence known with its beauty. At first glance, it may seem difficult to coordinate with tables, but it is easy to match with both Japanese and Western tableware, making it a powerful ally that adds a touch of glamour to any occasion.
Glass detail 1
A rounded shape and firm stability
The size of this glass is approximately 6.5 cm in diameter and 16.5 cm in height, and it weighs about 310 g. The thick Satsuma faceting gives it a solid weight and a high sense of stability. The stem is not too thin, and the curves follow the fingers, making it easy to hold.
The bowl has a rounded shape and a capacity of 180 ml, which is larger than it looks. Both red wine and white wine can enjoy the color combination with the black faceted glass. It can also be used to drink sake with Japanese food.
They are useful not only for daily use with Western food, but also as hospitality glasses for guests and tableware for special occasions such as New Year's Day. Please enjoy your favorite wine slowly with a glass full of special feeling.
