Satsuma faceted glass, said to be a phantom of faceted glass

Glass Features 1

Satsuma faceted glass, said to be a phantom of faceted glass

Satsuma faceting was produced in the Satsuma Domain (present-day Kagoshima Prefecture) at the end of the Edo period and was called "phantom faceting" because it was produced for only about 20 years. The technique of Satsuma faceting once ceased to exist, but it was restored about 100 years later, and the technique has been handed down to the present as a traditional craft.

Glass is one of the easiest items of tableware to incorporate into daily life. We recommend that you welcome a glass made by traditional handcrafts as a special tableware.

Satsuma faceted glass with a deep color that gives a calm impression

Glass Features 2

Deep color gives a calm impression of Satsuma brown

Satsuma faceting is made by covering the surface of transparent crystal glass with colored glass at least 1 mm thick, cutting it deeply, and polishing it. The "blurring" of colors produced in this process is the most distinctive feature of Satsuma faceting.

The glass uses a brown color that was created as a new color. Satsuma Bidoro Kogei, the company that produces this product, succeeded in producing brown color for the first time in the industry in 2014. Although the color is deep, the pattern expressed by cutting is beautiful with gentle shading and full of warmth.

The luxurious cutting all the way to the bottom of the glass makes the reflection of light on the glass so beautiful that you can't help but admire it.

Modern and stylish Satsuma faceted glass that matches both Japanese and Western styles

Glass Features 3

Modern and stylish glassware matches both Japanese and Western styles.

While being a traditional craft that makes full use of delicate techniques, this glass also has a somewhat modern and fashionable impression, and its great appeal is that it can be easily coordinated with any outfit.

Although these glasses are very expensive, you will want to match them with your everyday meals without any fuss. Of course, it is also good to use them during evening drinks when you want to enjoy your drinks slowly, or during precious time spent with your loved ones. We also recommend using it when entertaining guests.

At first glance, it may seem difficult to coordinate tables, but it is easy to match with both Japanese and Western tableware and adds a touch of glamour to any occasion.
